Our Kansas State buzz comes via a message board post at KSO and digs into all sorts of relevant topics in Wildcat land. We’ll assess the seventh game of the season for K-State, which was a convincing win over West Virginia in Morgantown.
First, as always, it is time to pick out the standouts across the board that aren’t just solely dependent on the stat sheet and what the production numbers tell us. We assess each player each play. So, it’s not about the 4-5 splash plays, it’s about all of their plays.
Seven different Kansas State players rise to the top on offense. While they were out-numbered in the run game for most of the evening against the Mountaineers, the offensive line still kept Avery Johnson clean in the pocket for the most part.
For that reason, we picked Johnson for his outstanding performance but also one offensive lineman. But when you score five offensive touchdowns and tack on another field goal, it was a good night and why five other players were identified.

We also included a little tidbit for the injury report. Kansas State was without starting right tackle Carver Willis due to injury. He did not travel. We shed light on the extent of his ailment and what the outlook is moving forward.

It is clear that Avery Johnson is making considerable growth under center. His ball placement is better, his pre-snap reads are improving, he’s going through his progressions and he is feeling pressure and avoiding sacks at a high clip (besides the Colorado game when he wasn’t mobile).
But we remember to credit a few coaches for his progress as well.
