Callen Barta recaps decision to commit to Kansas State
Kansas State hosted four our official visitors for the TCU game in Jayshawn Ross, Boone Morris, Jacques Spradley-Demps and Callen Barta. They all witnessed the Wildcats beat down the Horned Frogs 41-3 in Manhattan.
Barta is a Topeka, Kansas native that was originally committed to Nebraska but flipped to K-State after an offer from the Wildcats.
“The coaches and how close everyone is with each other in Manhattan went into my commitment to Kansas State,” Barta said. “I definitely see myself there for the next 4-5 years.”
His official visit was the second time that Barta had been in Manhattan, as he took an unofficial visit earlier in the week.
“My favorite part of the visit was just building relationships with all the coaching staff and other commits,” he shared.
Specifically, Barta was seen talking with K-State offensive lineman commit Kaedin Massey throughout much of the trip. The two sides really hit it off over the weekend.

“It was just us getting to know each other,” Barta explained. “We talked a lot of football. But Massey is a great dude.”
“It was great,” he added. “I got to know a lot of them, especially Boone. That’s my guy. We just kind of clicked. Both of us were committed somewhere else while on the visit so we just talked about that a lot.”
True freshman Wesley Fair was Barta’s host.
“That’s my guy,” he pointed out. “He is a very chill dude and he was a great host.”
It was another sellout crowd for Kansas State with an announced attendance of 52,580. It was sellout No. 11 in a row for K-State dating back to last season. The crowd and atmosphere left an impact on Barta.
“The atmosphere was amazing,” he noted. “It was a sellout crowd, and the fans are amazing.”
Barta will be enrolling at K-State in January. As of now the plan is for the Topeka native to play either one of the three safety spots.
