Dynamic RB Monterrio Elston commits to Kansas State
Kansas State wins another Power Four recruiting battle by garnering the commitment of Little Rock, Arkansas running back Monterrio Elston after pursuing him for several months and hosting him for multiple visits.
The announcement from Elston comes a few weeks after an official visit to K-State.
He was joined in Manhattan that particular weekend by Goodland tight end and recent Kansas State commit Linkon Cure, four-star defensive end Kade Pietrzak and in-state offensive lineman Keiton Jones. Pietrzak and Jones remain uncommitted.
As alluded to earlier, it has been a long time coming for Elston and the Wildcats. Mutual interest has existed for nearly a full year. K-State even offered the three-star running back from the southeast last October and were the first Power Four school to do so.
Shortly after the offer, Elston visited Manhattan for the first time October 22.
Elston returned to Kansas State for a visit in January where he raved about the Wildcats despite receiving an offer from the in-state program Arkansas and again in June for his official visit before his college decision.
His relationship with running backs coach Brian Anderson played a major part in picking the Wildcats.
