Hinds CC DT Patrick Tackie details Kansas State commitment
Kansas State hosted four official visitors for their final home game with Cincinnati. Hinds Community College defensive tackle Patrick Tackie, as well as high school wide receivers Arrion Concepcion, Larry Porter and Quentin Gibson all made their way to Manhattan. Concepcion and Tackie have since committed to K-State.
For Tackie it was his first time in Manhattan and it was a major, major success.
“I loved it, there’s nothing like it, the love, the atmosphere, and the city is lovely honestly,” Tackie began.
A few moments on his visit to Kansas State made the trip memorable.
“The football game atmosphere and also meeting the strength coach, coach Tru (Carroll),” he shared. “The amount fans that came out, the tailgating, how much they loved the seniors, the locker room, just pieces of a puzzle into a big beautiful picture made the atmosphere stand out.”
K-State defensive tackle George Traglia was the Hinds Community College player’s host over the weekend.
“I can relate to him because he’s also a JUCO product so it was easy talking to him, reliable, honest, a great heart and also passionate about what he wants to do, he’s a great dude all around,” he noted.

Being around Kansas State defensive tackles coach Mike Tuiasosopo was another highlight for the junior college product.
“Coach Tui is a character but honestly he’s a great guy and he means business,” he noted. “I know he takes care of his guys, he coaches well, he fits my description of a coach.”
A few things went into his decision to commit to K-State.
“How good the football is, how good the atmosphere is, how smart and caring the coaches are it is an amazing experience. And my folks man they loved it, man and for my mom she’s the one I do it for to see that small on her face that inner child come out, that’s all I needed,” he pointed out. “When I committed it was unreal, and highly emotional and relieving, took so much pressure off of me. Honestly when I got to see my mother be in so much joy is what did it for me she’s who I do it for.”
Tackie has a message for other prospects considering Kansas State.
“It’s a place you can be developed, if you’re looking for a good football team and not only just be a part of it but actually be a key role in it here’s the place,” he concluded. “If you have dreams of going big this is the place no matter how you years go you will leave KSU successful.”
