Kansas State lands another commit after another weekend of high-profile visitors made their way to Manhattan. This group was greeted with a much better outcome, as the Wildcats smashed Cincinnati 41-15 on Saturday night.

Junior college defensive tackle Patrick Tackie has committed to K-State. That is definitely a position of need for the Wildcats. They didn’t even sign a high school or junior college defensive lineman in the Class of 2024 until they picked up Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder very late in the process.

And of course they’ll be losing Uso Seumalo from the interior after this season.

Tackie will join a group that will return Alcorn-Crowder, Damian Ilalio and Asher Tomaszewski. It is definitely possible they are not finished at the position. Mike Tuiasosopo won’t have a bunch of experience coming back and a few unknowns in his stable.

Even more interesting is that he hails from the state of New York and grew up in the Bronx. I can’t say that Kansas State has trotted out a player from New York in my time covering the team which dates back to 2017.

Tackie also had a recent offer from Western Kentucky, but he was hearing a little bit from Ole Miss and took a visit to Oxford. He’s the first defensive tackle of the class (nose guard), commit No. 21 for K-State and follows receiver JD Davis as the second junior college prospect to pick Kansas State.

The Hinds Community College is currently standing at 6-foot-3 and weighs 295 pounds. He graduates in December and will enroll early at K-State with three years of eligibility remaining to play two seasons (still has a redshirt available).
