K-State places six on All-Big 12 Teams, Mott named Lineman of the Year
The Big 12 Conference announced their 2024 All-Big 12 Awards on Thursday. K-State placed six on the first or second teams. With senior defensive end Brendan Mott earning Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year honors.
Mott was the only Wildcat to make All-Big 12 First Team. Second-team honorees were running back DJ Giddens, tight end Garrett Oakley, and offensive linemen Sam Hecht and Easton Kilty. The lone defensive second-team member was sophomore linebacker Austin Romaine.
In addition to the members of the All-Big 12 teams, K-State also had 11 other players receive honorable mentions from the league’s coaches.
Dylan Edwards received nominations for Offensive Newcomer of the Year and Kick Returner of the Year. Tre Spivey was given votes for Offensive Freshman of the Year, with Chiddi Obiazor getting the nod on the defensive side of the ball.
Mott and Kilty were given votes for Defensive Player of the Year and Offensive Lineman of the Year, respectively.
Other players who got votes to be on the All-Big 12 teams were Jacob Parrish, VJ Payne, Will Swanson and Hadley Panzer.
This is the sixth time that a Wildcat has won Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year. Meshak Williams, Ryan Mueller, Jordan Willis and Felix Anudike-Uzomah all won the award. Anudike-Uzomah won it twice.
