Kansas State adds cornerback commit Zashon Rich

Kansas State is on a roll flipping prospects with the addition of Minnesota native Zashon Rich. The senior cornerback was originally committed to Wyoming. He committed to the Cowboys on October 6. Interestingly, K-State offered Rich four days after that first verbal pledge.
Shortly after the scholarship offer arrived, an official visit was scheduled. Rich was in Manhattan when Kansas State hosted Iowa State. He was initially planning to be on campus for the Baylor game but had to bump it back a week.
His recruitment resembles that of another K-State commit in Callen Barta. Like Barta, Rich also camped in Manhattan during June and did not receive an offer at the camp. However, after seeing their senior tape, both were offered by the Wildcats and both committed quickly following visits.
Rich has the length Kansas State typically looks for in the secondary. He is 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. Last year’s signees Donovan McIntosh and Will Lee both were over 6-foot-2 as well. Rich also has a 4.55 laser timed 40-yard dash.

Minnesota is not typically a state recruited by Kansas State, though it is mined a bit by defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman. However, this is now two consecutive cycles K-State has landed someone from Minnesota due to the Wildcats signing Chiddi Obiazor in the 2023 cycle.
Overall, Rich is commitment No. 11 and the fourth defensive player in the class – joining Barta and linebackers Boone Morris and Jake Stonebraker. He is the first cornerback in the 2024 class to commit to Van Malone and the Wildcats.
An interesting detail on the addition of Rich is the 11 commitments now hail from six different states. Kansas leads the way with four pledges in the class and Texas has three.
