Kansas State adds guard Max Jones

Kansas State has struck once again in the transfer portal. Former Cal State Fullerton guard Max Jones has committed to K-State.

The announcement from Jones comes on the heels of an official visit to Kansas State. The Wildcats snuck him in for a midweek visit and have secured his commitment.

Jones entered the transfer portal on March 21st. New Mexico, Texas A&M, Florida Atlantic, Mississippi State, and Loyola Chicago were interested in the former Cal State Fullerton guard. It is not known if he took any other official visits. Louisville and Texas Tech were also very interested in the grad transfer.

In his two seasons for the Titans, Jones had a productive career. This past season the Florida native averaged 15.3 points per game along with 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists. The guard also shot 38.3 percent from the floor this past season and 38.5 percent from three-point range on 109 attempts. Jones’ best game of the season came against Nebraska posting 30 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals. In the four games against NCAA Tournament teams Jones played last season, he averaged 19.75 points per game, 40 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three-point range.

As a sophomore in 2022, the Florida native averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while starting 32 of the 33 Titans games. For his efforts as a sophomore, Jones was named Honorable Mention All-Big West.

Before playing at Cal State Fullerton, the Florida native spent two seasons at the University of Tampa. In two seasons for the University of Tampa, Jones averaged 22.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He was also named Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year.

Overall, Jones is the fifth transfer portal commitment for Kansas State. He joins Dug McDaniel, CJ Jones, Brendan Hausen and Baye Fall as transfer portal commitments for K-State. The guard has one year of eligibility remaining.
