Kansas State adds Penn State receiver transfer Dante Cephas
Kansas State has struck in the transfer portal for the fourth time by adding Penn State receiver transfer Dante Cephas. He picked the Wildcats over UCLA and Pittsburgh. Cephas had connections to Los Angeles and is a native of Pittsburgh and considered the Panthers before picking the Nittany Lions last year.
The decision from Cephas to commit to K-State was never announced by himself and does come after making an official visit to Kansas State a few weeks ago. Despite the interest level from both the Bruins and Pittsburgh, his trip to Manhattan was the only one he made before coming to a decision.
It was confirmed by him already having arrived and enrolled on campus.
K-State has made it no secret they have wanted a wide receiver in the transfer portal. The Wildcats hosted Shazz Preston, Antonio Meeks, Myles Price and Jabre Barber on official visits as well since the transfer portal opened and also pursued Malik Benson, Silas Bolden and Jerand Bradley.
It is a reunion of sorts for the super senior wide receiver at Kansas State.
Cephas is actually a two-time transfer and originally played at Kent State. While he played for the MAC school, his position coach was current K-State wide receivers coach Matthew Middleton. The former relationship with Middleton set the Wildcats apart from its competitors for him.
Cephas’ best years of his career also came for the Golden Flashes under Middleton. He tallied 145 catches for 2,139 yards and 12 touchdowns over the course of four seasons.

The wideout’s most productive season at Kent State came in 2021 where he had 82 catches for 1,240 yards and nine touchdowns. Cephas was the first wide receiver for the Golden Flashes to reach 1,000 yards in a season since 1997.
In both 2021 and 2022, the Pittsburgh native was a first team All-MAC choice.
The newest Kansas State receiver collected 22 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns at Penn State this past season. He ranked fifth for the Nittany Lions in both receptions and yards, but was second amongst receivers.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Cephas is the No. 62 player in the transfer portal. He is also ranked as the No. 11 wideout among those that have entered. He’ll have one year of eligibility with K-State.
