Kansas State adds speedy defensive back RJ Collins
Kansas State has added another prospect in the 2025 class. Kansas City, Missouri defensive back RJ Collins has committed to the Wildcats on the fourth of July. That should give K-State a one-for-two day since we anticipate receiver Gio Richardson picking Arizona.
It was a fast and furious recruitment between the Wildcats and Collins. The Staley High product had not held his offer for long before committing to Kansas State. He was offered on June 25 after his performance at the June 23 camp in Manhattan and now 11 days later he has committed.
His work with K-State defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman contributed to the scholarship opportunity. Klanderman and Collins spoke after every single rep the rising senior defensive back took during one-on-ones.
After the camp, Klanderman and head coach Chris Klieman provided him with the good news. While listed at cornerback, his position is still up in the air. We believe the speedster from Kansas City could ultimately be the free safety of the cycle.
Collins held offers from Delaware, Illinois State, Missouri State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and UT-Martin in addition to Kansas State. Purdue, Iowa State, Missouri and Nebraska have also shown interest in the rising senior defensive back.

It is a homecoming of sorts for Collins. His parents met in Manhattan.
Did we mention the speed? Collins won the Missouri Class 5 state meet in the 200-meter dash and finished third in the 100-meter dash during the Spring. His 200-meter time of 21.23 seconds was a Missouri Class 5 record and a top 20 time in the history of Missouri high school track.
Overall, Collins is commitment No. 13 for K-State. He joins Dillon Duff, Weston Polk, Will Kemna, Martel Jackson, Adonis Moise, Dalton Knapp, Sawyer Schilke, JoJo Scott, Maguire Richman, Dominic Mitchell, Brock Heath and Linkon Cure.
He is the third commitment from the state of Missouri in the 2025 class as well. He also becomes the 10th commitment for Kansas State since June 9.
