Kansas State adds talented wing CJ Jones

Kansas State has added transfer portal addition No. 2 for men’s basketball. Former UIC wing CJ Jones has committed to K-State.
From the time Jones entered the transfer portal on March 10th, there was mutual interest between him and the Wildcats. The mutual interest led to the sophomore taking an official visit to Kansas State this past weekend. His official visit led to his commitment shortly after the visit.
Jones was a wanted man in the power conference world. Xavier, Illinois and Creighton were also showing interest in the East Saint Louis native. It is unknown if he visited of those schools.
There is also an interesting tie between the sophomore wing and Kansas State. He attended the same high school current K-State forward Macaleab Rich went to at East St. Louis. Their relationship along with Jones’ relationship with K-State’s coaching staff set the Wildcats over the top of other schools.

This past season was Jones’ best season of his young career for the Flames. The wing improved in every area on the floor from his freshman to sophomore season. He averaged 13.7 points per game, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds this season. Jones also shot 37 percent from three-point range this season while shooting three per game.
His 4.8 assists per game ranked No. 4 in the Missouri Valley this season. The sophomore even had a game this season against Drake where he totaled 16 points and 14 assists. In his one game against power competition, the sophomore scored 13 points while shooting 46 percent from the floor and hauled in two rebounds against Cincinnati in the opening game of the season for Illinois-Chicago.
Overall, Jones is the second commitment out of the transfer portal for Kansas State, he joins former Michigan guard Dug McDaniel. Jerome Tang and his staff keep taking big swings so stay tuned to KSO for who could be the next transfer portal commitment.
Jones will come to K-State with two years of eligibility remaining.
