Kansas State has added another transfer to the 2025 recruiting class. Nebraska running back Gabe Ervin has committed to K-State.

The announcement from Ervin comes on the heels of an official visit to Kansas State. His recruitment was pretty quiet and done in the dark, like a few other transfer recruitments this cycle. It is unknown if he had visited any other schools besides K-State

A major tip of the hat goes to the Wildcats running back coach Brian Anderson. While running back was not a major need this cycle, he got the job done for Kansas State. The addition of Ervin is similar to when K-State added UConn quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson from the transfer portal last off-season. Kansas State does not necessarily need a running back with Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson returning next season. Of course, Edwards just won Rate Bowl MVP and ran for a K-State record 196 yards in the win over Rutgers.

Ervin had a solid four seasons with Nebraska. In total, he rushed for 455 yards on 109 carries and five touchdowns over the course of his five seasons. He won the starting running back job twice in Lincoln but has had some bad injury luck.

The Georgia native was the first true freshman running back at Nebraska to start the season opener in 2021. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury against Oklahoma in 2021. Ervin won the running back job again in 2023 until suffering a season-ending hip injury.

Georgia has been kind to Kansas State in the past and it has continued again in the transfer portal. West Georgia safety Mar’Quavious Moss is a native of West Point, Georgia. Ervin is a Buford native and attended Buford High School and was a high school teammate with current K-State safety VJ Payne.

In total, Ervin is commitment No. 8 from the transfer portal to Kansas State. He joins Oklahoma corner Jayden Rowe, Purdue wideout Jaron Tibbs, Moss, Ohio State linebacker Gabe Powers, Boston College wideout Jerand Bradley, USC offensive lineman Amos Talalele and Arizona safety Gunner Maldonado.
