Kansas State calls WR Keagan Johnson a game-time decision
The biggest storyline of the week for Kansas State has been the status of wide receiver Keagan Johnson. In what was a surprise at the time, he missed the season opener versus SEMO and was not in uniform when the Wildcats took the field.
Johnson committed to K-State over Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Nebraska and many other Power Five programs during the offseason and was on campus for spring football without incident. There was a blip during training camp, but he has been healthy otherwise.
Unfortunately, that ended during a practice at the end of last when something flared up on him and caused him to miss the first contest. Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman urged that it was not serious or severe when asked after the 45-0 win over the Redhawks.
When asked to re-address the situation on Tuesday, Klieman insisted that Johnson is still day-to-day in terms of his availability. He was at K-State practice on Monday but he was limited. He only did a few things.

Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein was asked on Thursday and re-iterated that he’s still day-to-day at this point but had made progress and strides throughout the week. They are calling him a game-time decision.
In Johnson’s absence, Jadon Jackson received the start alongside Phillip Brooks and RJ Garcia and caught two passes for 38 yards. One of his two catches was a touchdown reception during the first drive of the game.
The K-State injury report also includes linebacker Jake Clifton, tight end Garrett Oakley and offensive lineman Christian Duffie. Uso Seumalo and Daniel Green returned last week and John Pastore is expected back this week.
Stay tuned to KSO for the latest on Johnson’s status the closer it gets to Saturday.
