One of the rising coaches on the Kansas State staff is taking another step up. Brian Lepak will take over the vacant offensive line coach job. Lepak is entering his fifth season at K-State, spending the last three as the tight ends coach and his first year as a quality control coach. ESPN shared the news first.

Lepak came to K-State after a playing career as an offensive lineman at Colorado State and Oklahoma, and then early coaching career stops at Indiana, Oklahoma and Southern.

Retaining Lepak and promoting him to a more prominent position coach role makes sense for Chris Klieman. The newly minted Wildcat offensive line coach has been instrumental in recruiting over the past few seasons for K-State. He was also in charge of tight ends as Ben Sinnott went from walk-on to All-Big 12 and was an NFL Draft pick.

Kansas State and Lepak also landed one of the highest-rated recruits in school history in the most recent recruiting cycle. Goodland native and tight end Linkon Cure chose K-State over a strong push from Oregon.

The offensive line coach job was open after the surprising departure of Conor Riley. He was offered the offensive line job for the Dallas Cowboys under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Riley also doubled as the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator, which was filled with quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Matt Wells assuming full control of the offense.

Now the Wildcats have another open spot to fill. Lepak’s former job of tight ends coach is now open. Once again Kansas State could look internally and promote a non-position coach to the role, or look outside the program.

Former Wildcat player, Drew Liddle, has been promoted to assistant offensive line coach. He spent 2024 as an offensive analyst for K-State.
