Kansas State flips linebacker Boone Morris
Kansas State has landed another prospect in the Class of 2024 with the addition of Mount Vernon, Texas linebacker Boone Morris. His commitment arrives after he de-committed from UTSA following an official visit to K-State over the weekend.
Morris was joined in Manhattan by other official visitors – Callen Barta (now committed to Kansas State), Jacques Spradley-Demps and Jayshawn Ross.
As alluded to earlier, he was originally committed to UTSA before flipping to the Wildcats. His first commitment came on July 1. Things came together quickly between Morris and K-State. The senior only had his offer from Kansas State for a month before taking an official visit to The Little Apple.
The official visit was not his first time in Manhattan, either. Last season, Morris visited for the contest against Tulane and K-State was a school he was hoping to receive an offer from after that trip. After receiving the offer it became clear he was likely going to be a Wildcat.
While listed as an edge rusher in the database, Morris will play the ‘Mike’ linebacker role for Kansas State. He also has an advantage of playing in the 3-3-5 scheme at the high school level. Well-informed sources have told KSO that compares to current K-State linebacker Austin Romaine.
Romaine has started four games as a true freshman and has played in every game but the last one because of injury.

Morris has tallied 138 tackles in eight games for Mount Vernon in his final season of high school football before making his way to Manhattan. The 138 tackles are good for No. 27 in the country according to MaxPreps. For his career, Morris has tallied over 400 tackles.
Overall, the senior is commitment No. 9 for Kansas State in the 2024 cycle. He is also just the third commitment on the defensive side of the ball, joining Barta and Colorado-based linebacker Jake Stonebraker.
Remember, Daniel Green is technically the only scholarship defensive player for K-State who will be out of eligibility following this season.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking (combination of all four networks), Morris is a mid three-star prospect.
