Kansas State hires Matthew Middleton as new receivers coach
Kansas State had a void to fill on their offensive staff after the departure of wide receivers coach Thad Ward and have filled it with Matthew Middleton, a Kansas City native that had previous stops at Kent State and South Dakota.
Before that, he was also a graduate assistant at Kansas, so he’s been in the Big 12 before, even if only briefly.
Middleton was hired by K-State head coach Chris Klieman soon after it was confirmed that Collin Klein would remain as the school’s offensive coordinator after speaking with Notre Dame on a few different occasions.
After this past season, Middleton departed the MAC program in Ohio and was hired by new USF head coach Alex Golesh. Middleton had been coaching under Sean Lewis, who left for an offensive coordinator job at Colorado, and he was leaving to work for Golesh in Tampa after his stint as offensive coordinator at Tennessee.
Both Lewis and Golesh are considered to be very, very bright offensive minds that both hired and prioritized Middleton as one of their first hires as head coaches. That’s a heck of an endorsement in itself for the newest Kansas State assistant.
