Kansas State has landed its first high school basketball commit of the 2025 cycle. Laurel, Mississippi wing Ashton Magee has committed to K-State.

The decision from the senior comes on the heels of his official visit to Kansas State. He was on hand to see K-State face off against Colorado at the beginning of March. Magee enjoyed his visit so much he decided to commit to the Wildcats shortly after.

It was a sprint between the two sides as Kansas State offered the Mississippi native January 28th and worked hard to get an official visit scheduled after his basketball season ended. Magee’s recruitment was starting to heat up a bit during his senior basketball season. Since January, he has received offers from Stetson, Georgia State, Norfolk State, Bethune-Cookman, Monmouth, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, New Mexico State and USF. Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UAB and Duquesne were all interested in the senior wing as well.

It is a recruiting win for Director of Video and analytics Franklin Miskelly. He was the one, along with Jerome Tang, who offered Magee. Miskelly is a Mississippi native as well and went to Mississippi State and worked as a student manager and graduate assistant for the Bulldogs and has many ties to the area.

This season at South Jones High School, Magee has really taken a major leap forward in his development. He is averaging 23.5 points per game, 8.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocks while shooting 57 percent from the field and 33 percent from three. He was also named Region 3-5A Most Valuable Player along with All-Region and All-District Team.

Magee is technically commitment No. 2 for Kansas State in the 2025 recruiting class. He joins a class of Memphis transfer wing Tyreek Smith who is already on campus and going through practices for K-State. The senior has not been rated by On3.
