Kansas State players of the game in drubbing of Oklahoma State
Kansas State offensive MVP: Avery Johnson
Picking an offensive MVP this week was tough. But at least it wasn’t because there weren’t any solid options. Kansas State was rolling for a majority of the game. Ultimately I had to switch my pick to the K-State signal caller.
Avery Johnson played the best game of his career. The sophomore quarterback had five total touchdowns while throwing for a career high 259 yards. He also ran for 60 yards. The last rushing touchdown was perhaps his most impressive play as a Wildcat.
It is a wild day when DJ Giddens almost rushes for 200 yards and does not get the nod. He had three runs for over 30 yards during the win, including a career long 66-yard score. The touchdown run was just the second rushing touchdown of the year for the Junction City native. Giddens ran for 187 yards in total.
Jayce Brown sparked a rejuvenated Kansas State passing attack. The sophomore wide receiver ended up as the leading wide receiver for the Wildcats. Brown had four catches for 78 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown reception.
Defensive MVP: Austin Romaine
It is time to have a discussion about K-State linebacker Austin Romaine making a charge for All-Big 12 honors. The sophomore led the Wildcats in tackles for the fourth consecutive game with seven. He was able to make a tackle for a loss and got a hit on Alan Bowman.

Damian Ilalio continues to be a force in the middle for the Kansas State defense as well. His presence has helped the Wildcats be a solid unit against the run. The Manhattan native also made an impressive play tracking down a wide receiver from the nose guard position.
Desmond Purnell also helped make a major play to swing the game in the favor of K-State. After a bad snap, Purnell had a massive hit on Bowman to set up a fumble recovery for Colby McCalister.
K-State special teams MVP: Simon McClannan
It was a relatively quiet day for the Kansas State special teams. Simon McClannan had a strong day punting the ball with his first four punts being downed inside the 20. He had seven punts for 290 yards in totality.
Chris Tennant knocked in all six of his extra points but was not asked to kick a field goal. Jack Fabris added a pair of good tackles on special teams as well.
