Kansas State ranked No. 17 in preseason Coaches Top 25 poll
The preseason USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll was released on Monday and Kansas State begins the year at No. 17. It is the first time K-State has been ranked in the preseason Coaches Poll since 2017 when they were ranked No. 19.
The Wildcats earn the spot after winning the Big 12 last season.
Their position is a product of returning starting quarterback Will Howard, as well as their top eight offensive linemen last season that have also totaled 119 career starts. The K-State offense also added transfer weapons like Treshaun Ward of Florida State and Keagan Johnson of Iowa.
Don’t forget that Kansas State also possesses one of the best tight ends in the country in Ben Sinnott.
There is also returning firepower on the defensive side of the ball for the Wildcats.
Linebackers Austin Moore and Daniel Green are back, as well as preseason first team All-Big 12 safety Kobe Savage. Khalid Duke is making the move to defensive end for K-State where he was productive as a freshman and sophomore.
It should also not be overlooked that Kansas State has had major staff continuity. There are seven assistant coaches who have been in Manhattan for the entirety of Chris Klieman’s tenure, including coordinators Joe Klanderman and Collin Klein.
