For the second time this week a Kansas State player has declared for the NFL Draft. Junior running back DJ Giddens announced this evening his intentions to skip his senior season to enter the NFL Draft.

Giddens ended his junior campaign with 205 carries for 1343 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added 21 catches for 258 yards and another touchdown. His 6.6 yards per carry this season broke a Kansas State season record for yards per carry in a season. The Junction City native will also finish second all time at K-State in yards per carry in a carry at 6.0 yards per rush.

He has been a productive player since he first gained playing time for the Wildcats. In 2022 as the primary backup running back, Giddens ran for 518 yards and six scores on 89 carries. While splitting time at running back in 2023, the Junction City native ran for 1226 yards and 10 touchdowns on 223 carries while adding 29 catches for 323 yards and three more scores.

The Junction City native will go down in the history books at Kansas State. He finishes his K-State career No. 3 all time in rushing yards, No. 2 in yards per carry in a career, No. 1 in yards per carry in a season, No. 7 in rushing yards in a single season and No. 8 in all purpose yards in a career despite never being a returner in his career.

Giddens is the second primary running back to leave early for the NFL for Kansas State in a row following Deuce Vaughn in 2022.

It is not believed he will play for the Wildcats in the Rate Bowl December 26 versus Rutgers. With that, it will likely be Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson playing running back for Kansas State in the bowl game.
