Kansas State set to face Rutgers in Rate Bowl
After limping to an 8-4 finish in 2024, Kansas State will have a chance for a nine-win season in Phoenix. The Wildcats were selected to play in the Rate Bowl at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on December 26th.
Kansas State will face Rutgers out of the Big Ten. It will be the second meeting all time, with Rutgers winning the 2006 Texas Bowl 37-10. This is the fifth appearance in the Arizona-based bowl game. It has been played under the moniker of the Copper Bowl, Insight.com Bowl, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, and Cactus Bowl.
K-State is 3-1 in past versions of the Rate Bowl with wins over Wyoming, Michigan, and UCLA.
In addition to playing for a third straight nine-win season or better, a few other things to watch for in this matchup with the Scarlet Knights are important to know. Quarterback Avery Johnson needs just three touchdown passes to break the single-season record at K-State.
DJ Giddens would also be in reach of Darren Sproles’ career yards per rush number of 6.1, as he currently sits at 6.0.
