Kansas State Signature Spotlight: Chiddi Obiazor
NAME: Chiddi Obiazor
RANKING: ***
CLASS: 2023
POSITION: Defensive End
HOMETOWN: Eden Prairie, Minnesota
HIGH SCHOOL: Eden Prairie
POWER FIVE OFFERS: Kansas State
RECRUITING SUMMARY:
The recruitment of Chiddi Obiazor was a pretty swift one. I’m not sure that there is a better way to describe it at this point. Kansas State still had a need for defensive ends going into their final camp in June, and he impressed the Wildcats enough to warrant an offer.
Buddy Wyatt and Chris Klieman extended a scholarship after his night was over based off of his performance. Despite not committing immediately after the camp, K-State led throughout the month of July. The trio of Obiazor, Ryan Davis and
But Kansas State didn’t have room for all three, and the targets became aware of that and modified and planned their recruitments with that in mind. The Minnesota native visited Manhattan during the last weekend of July and committed shortly after.
He took his official visit for the South Dakota game at the beginning of September. Obiazor will also be an early enrollee.
EVALUATION
For one, Obiazor hails from a winning high school program. Eden Prairie is a powerhouse in the state of Minnesota. It is never a bad thing to establish a presence there. K-State can thank defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman for that.
His in-roads in that state from his past coaching experience aided the Wildcats.
More than anything, Obiazor is not going to be someone that sees the field early in his career. He’s as raw as it gets in the Kansas State class. He’s going to bake in the oven a little longer than about everyone else, in my opinion.

Part of it is learning the tools of the trade. Another part of it is figuring out the trade. We’re still not certain what position he plays for K-State. Sure, defensive end might be the most likely destination. But I’m not ruling out either offensive tackle or defensive tackle.
He looks pretty. Obiazor is what Power Five athletes are supposed to look like at programs like Kansas State. We just don’t know where he is going to play or when he will know what he’s doing once that is determined.
What we do know is that he is a physical specimen that is only becoming more athletic, more sudden and more explosive.
As a KSO subscriber, Kansas State fans can find out more about the rest of the recruiting targets still being chased, which underclassmen players could return for the Wildcats and how many of the seniors will be back on the roster for an extra season in Manhattan.
Remember, we also have plenty of bowl coverage on the way for Big 12 Champion K-State as well in the lead-up to the Sugar Bowl matchup with Alabama, plus Jerome Tang and company are cooking and have shot out to an 10-1 record.
