One prospect that saw his stock soar over the past few months was Goodland tight end Linkon Cure. The in-state star took to the camp circuit and reeled in scholarship opportunities from the likes of Kansas State, Iowa State, Missouri and Kansas.

Though Nebraska has yet to offer, they are showing more than a little bit of a passing interest into the Sunflower State product.

However, we expect that probably before the calendar year flips, that Cure will pick K-State. The Wildcats hold a special place throughout his entire family and he grew up attending games in Manhattan. That fandom and draw will play a huge impact in his recruitment.

Kansas State was also the first to offer the western Kansan. As noted above, he’s also someone that they see as an overall athlete, but his eventual landing spot could be at the tight end spot. The Wildcats are tracking towards signing a 2024 class that doesn’t include one, which should make it even more appealing for Cure.

Though he would be in the conversation for the top player in the state for most classes, he probably has a battle on his hands to even crack the top 5 in 2025. That is how stacked Kansas is for that particular cycle, making some wonder if it will rival the 2023 group that K-State capitalized on last December.

Head coach Chris Klieman mentioned in his introductory press conference that he wanted to build on the recruiting efforts near home, and the last 24 months have shown significant progress in that department. Kansas State has really built a base in Kansas, Missouri and even Iowa.

The bigger question isn’t necessarily if Cure will pick the Wildcats. It’s more about when and if that coincides with him being the first to commit to K-State in the 2025 class. Stay tuned for more information on his recruitment.
