Lamarcus Barber details his commitment to Kansas State

Kansas State recently struck twice in the 2026 recruiting class. The first commitment came April 21 from Mill Valley High offensive lineman Lamarcus Barber. The Sunflower State product chose K-State over offers from Arkansas State and Iowa State.
“I love the people who are there like the coaches and the players I know and will get to know,” Barber said. “They made me a priority from day one and always checked on me after my offer. They had me up for the bowl game practice and sent me endless texts.”
Picking Kansas State meant a lot to the future Wildcat lineman.
“The moment was special for me because I got to share it with my dad,” Barber shared. “I was sitting with Coach Kli (Chris Klieman), dad and Sped (Taylor Braet). It just felt like family.”
K-State offensive line coach Brian Lepak has also played a large role in Barber choosing the Wildcats, taking over the recruitment once he replaced Conor Riley as the offensive line coach in Manhattan.
“Our relationship has been great,” Barber noted. “I really like him. I just saw him April 29 and we just talked and it wasn’t about football. He is really getting to know me the person and not the athlete and that’s huge to me.”

Barber publicly announced his commitment to Kansas State just after taking an unofficial visit April 17.
“The visit was really good,” he discussed. “I liked it a lot. Finally getting to sit down with Coach Kli and my dad in the same room was my favorite part. The one-on-one is what every kid wants from a head coach, to hear how you fit in and what you can bring and sharing that moment with pops was everything.”
It won’t be long before the 6-foot-3, 300-pounder is back on campus. He is planning on taking an official visit June 5-7.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the other guys that are getting recruited or committed and getting to spend more with the players and coaches,” Barber pointed out.
