Linebacker Weston Polk explains why he committed to Kansas State
Kansas State football has been red hot on the recruiting trail. After holding at just one commitment in the 2025 class since February 19, the Wildcats have tacked on two more in the last week in linebacker Weston Polk of Coppell, Texas and offensive lineman Will Kemna of Jefferson City, Missouri.
Both are three-star prospects. And for Polk it was a victory over Big 12 opponents for K-State. Head coach Chris Klieman and the Wildcats out-lasted TCU, Iowa State, Houston and California among others for the junior linebacker.
“First off, Coach Klieman is the best in the business,” Polk said. “And the whole coaching staff is just very trustworthy and a great group of men. Another big thing is just the amazing culture in Manhattan of winning and supporting the football team. The fan base just couldn’t be more supportive. Both the coaches and fans feel like family already.”
The coaches at Kansas State made it a special moment for Polk.
“I got Coach Klieman and [Steve] Stanard on the phone together and committed,” he told KSO. “And their reaction is something I’ll always remember. As soon as I said ‘I’m committed’ they got super excited. The genuineness in their excitement reassured me that I was wanted at Kansas State.”
At the time of his commitment, it was just Polk and Dillon Duff as the K-State commits in the current recruiting cycle. Kemna joined the two as Kansas State pledges shortly afterwards. Duff and Polk spoke with one another after his decision to be a Wildcat.

“As soon as I committed we hopped on the phone and he was super excited for me,” Polk shared. “Dillon and I have had each other added on Snapchat for a while and had talked a good amount about K-State before I committed.”
There are two prospects the Texan is hoping joins him in Manhattan. Unsurprisingly, both are from the Lone Star State.
“Leo Almanza and Braden Blueitt are my focus,” Polk revealed.
Polk also has a message for recruits interested in Kansas State.
“The K-State culture is a blue-collared, go earn it mindset,” he explained. “K-State is and always will be the toughest, scrappiest and hardest-working team in the country. Other schools recruiting will try to show you the cool and flashy things but not the reality of what it really is. Coach Klieman is authentic, trustworthy and recruits the right type of guys to keep the hard working culture at K-State. If you want to be a part of the best culture in college football, come to K-State.”
