Kansas State Hc Chris Klieman Provides Injury Update On Green, Howard And Ward

As shared earlier, it was confirmed that Kansas State linebacker Daniel Green has torn the pectoral muscle and will miss the remainder of the season. An MRI confirmed that and his surgery was conducted on Tuesday morning.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the last of the K-State injury report. Head coach Chris Klieman went through a few different situations that they are dealing with at the moment following the loss to Missouri in Columbia.

That was just a physical game because Missouri may also be without quarterback Brady Cook this week against Memphis.

As was apparent throughout much of the game, Kansas State quarterback Will Howard is also not healthy. A leg injury had him hobbled, and that limited his mobility. Unsurprisingly, his status for Saturday’s tilt with UCF is considered questionable.

Howard did not practice Monday and the hope is that he might be able to do some things on Tuesday.

If he is unable to go, the Wildcats will start Avery Johnson under center. The true freshman saw nearly a double-digit number of snaps on the road last weekend.

In what slipped past me, K-State running back Treshaun Ward is also banged up after coming up gimpy on a play towards the finish of the game at Faurot Field. Klieman classified his status as doubtful, meaning more would be put on the plate of DJ Giddens.

Green is also not the only linebacker on the injury report, either. For the third straight week, Kansas State won’t have sophomore Jake Clifton. That means true freshman Austin Romaine will receive plenty of snaps at the inside linebacker spot.

The good news is that Clifton should be back for the Oklahoma State game after the bye week and offensive lineman Christian Duffie should return this week.
