Phillip Brooks to return to Kansas State for sixth season
Kansas State wide receiver Phillip Brooks will be returning to Manhattan for a sixth season of eligibility, he announced via his Instagram account. Like all college players in 2020, he was granted an extra season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
And like others before him, including a handful of Big 12 champions, he will be taking advantage of the additional year.
The Lee’s Summit native has logged 129 catches for 1,538 yards and nine touchdowns in his K-State career. 2022 was a career season for Brooks when he posted 45 catches for 587 yards and four touchdowns.
Where the Kansas State standout has been the most dangerous in his Wildcat tenure has been as a punt returner. He has 42 punt returns for 639 yards and four touchdowns in his K-State career, which ranks fifth all-time for the Wildcats in yardage and second in touchdowns.

He will join a Kansas State receiving core next Fall that now includes Iowa transfer Keagan Johnson. But he is the lone starter that will be back in Manhattan. Malik Knowles will give the NFL a shot and Kade Warner has no more eligibility.
Brooks will add a lot of experience to a K-State wide receiver group that has very little of it. He has played in 51 games in his K-State career thus far.
The wide receiver is the sixth super senior expected to return to Kansas State for their final year of eligibility in the Fall. The others are K-State offensive linemen Hayden Gillum, KT Leveston and Christian Duffie, receiver Seth Porter and long-snapper Randen Plattner.
