Players of the game: Kansas State QB Adrian Martinez gets it done with his legs
OFFENSIVE MVP: Kansas State QB Adrian Martinez
I would argue Kansas State probably could have been even more successful if Collin Klein ran Adrian Martinez more than he did. When the quarterback did run, good things happened. Three of his 12 rushes went for six points and he totaled 171 yards on the ground.
Martinez’s arm wasn’t asked to do a whole lot, but he did throw a touchdown to Phillip Brooks and was accurate on the day. K-State running back Deuce Vaughn didn’t score but still went for 170 yards on 23 carries that included a 69-yard gashing.
DEFENSEIVE MVP: Khalid Duke
Kansas State defenders Khalid Duke, Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Austin Moore were all tremendous against the Red Raiders. Duke and Anudike-Uzomah had three sacks apiece, while Moore was all over the field and picked off a Donovan Smith pass.
It may have been the best game of Duke’s career. He finished with eight total tackles in a versatile role. One of Anudike-Uzomah’s sacks resulted in a forced fumble for one of the four Texas Tech turnovers. The defensive line as a whole was extremely disruptive.

Kobe Savage also forced a fumble and led the team in tackles. Julius Brents was really good and his interception was the nail in the Red Raider coffin. Josh Hayes was another disruptive defender for K-State.
SPECIAL TEAMS MVP: Kansas State kicker Chris Tennant
The Kansas State special teams was almost a non-factor, though they had a few negative plays. Two examples were the kick out of bounds by Ty Zentner and a short kickoff from the K-State punter that allowed a lengthy return from Texas Tech.
However, Chris Tennant’s three short made field goals made up the difference. The kicker also knocked in all four of his extra point attempts, as he continues to ascend the ladder and restore his confidence and become reliable for Kansas State.
