Rapid recap: Another dominant Kansas State performance
Kansas State success at home
Kansas State has been excellent inside of Bill Snyder Family Stadium this season. In the five games at home, K-State is outscoring opponents by an average score of 42.6-9.4. 31 of the 47 points allowed by the Wildcats inside their own building actually came against UCF.
Head coach Chris Klieman credits the maturity of Kansas State players for their dominance at home. There are a lot of experienced players on the roster who know they only have a few more chances to play in front of the home fans.
With maturity also comes with a mindset of wanting to be 1-0 every day of the week. It’s hard to win football games and they are not won on Saturdays. Winning during the week is how it is done, and the Wildcats are winning during the week.
Stifling defense
For the second straight game the K-State defense did not allow a touchdown. In fact, it has been nine consecutive quarters since they have allowed a score and just three points total in that span, which was surrendered to TCU.
The Kansas State secondary continues to get better every week. It is a unit that consists of a lot of young players and the game reps earlier in the season have helped them grow and develop tremendously quicker than usual.

Linebacker Jake Clifton played all three linebacker spots in the shutout win over Houston after starting at the ‘Mike’ position last week. He is a swiss-army knife for the Wildcats. Freshman Austin Romaine returned from injury.
Having Romaine return let Desmond Purnell and Austin Moore get off the field for more breathers.
Efficient game for Will Howard
Senior quarterback Will Howard finished 15 of 17 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He actually threw the two touchdowns before he threw his first incompletion. His 88 percent completion percentage was the highest of the senior’s career.
Klieman called it perhaps the best game of Howard’s career. Howard was in command under center and in control of the game. He also ran the ball effectively.
