Cam Carter’s return to Kansas State

Thursday night Kansas State faces off against LSU. It is the third time the Wildcats have faced the Tigers in the Jerome Tang era. LSU also will have a familiar face on its sideline with former K-State guard Cam Carter.

Tang loves Carter and all he did for Kansas State. The guard believed in Tang and K-State when not a lot of people did, and the Wildcats’ coaching staff believed in him. For two seasons Carter was a really good and productive player and capitalized on the two years in Manhattan.

Now he gets to return to his home state and play closer to his family. Tang did joke he hopes Carter has a great season and is rooting for him in every game but the one in Bramlage Coliseum.

Playing at full strength

Kansas State has yet to have its full compliment of players this season. Mobi Ikegwuruka and Max Jones were not available for the exhibition contest versus Fort Hays State. In the first two regular season games of the season, Achor Achor has not been available due to a family emergency.

Achor has had a few good days now mentally and physically and Tang expects the wing to be able to play versus LSU.

Dug getting closer

Dug McDaniel has came off the bench in the first two games of the season and has played well. He is growing and getting closer to where Tang wants him to be. Playing point guard for Tang and K-State is different than a lot of schools in the country.

They demand a lot out of point guards and expect them to take on more responsibility.

McDaniel is taking ownership and seeing the game the way Tang wants him to see it. In turn, Tang is also seeing the game how McDaniel sees it. Markquis Nowell went through a similar process in his one season at Kansas State.

It is going to take some time and is a process, but Tang is not disappointed with where McDaniel is at in his development.
