The Kansas State bye week

With Kansas State having a bye week, there was a little more rest than usual. Some players were able to go home over the weekend. K-State has also since had a good week of practice according to offensive coordinator Conor Riley.

Getting back from the bye week there was lots of energy and excitement.

Tuesday, the Wildcats got into more game planning and there were a few mistakes. Kansas State was able to clean those up on Wednesday. The K-State play-caller is hoping the practice Thursday is clean and crisp and continues to build appropriately towards the game.

Road struggles

It is no secret Kansas State has struggled on the road to start this season. Offensively, the Wildcats got off to a slow start at Tulane, and they were plagued by penalties and turned the ball over way too much at BYU.

To be a good football team they have to be better on the road. Avery Johnson has mentioned that a few times since the debacle in Provo. It has also been the message to the team throughout the week. Riley and company want to confront it and to solve those woes.

A look at Colorado

Like Klieman on Monday, Riley was extremely complimentary of Colorado. He praised the athleticism and physicality of the Buffaloes’ defense. Colorado is able to play a lot of man coverage and play with the same technique across the board with all of their cornerbacks, which is a testament to Deion Sanders.

Colorado’s defensive line is physical and disrupt a lot of activity of opposing offenses. The entire front seven can attack and help out the secondary with how active they are.

Riley also noted against UCF that Colorado showed new things to the Knights they hadn’t shown on film yet. While the Buffaloes are more of a man coverage team, they played more zone coverage against the Knights, and K-State will have to prepare for both looks.
