Rapid Recap: Kansas State must control line of scrimmage
Young Kansas State defensive lineman receiving praise
After Kansas State’s second bye week, there has been talk of younger players standing out. It was asked to K-State head coach Chris Klieman Monday as well as offensive coordinator Conor Riley Thursday, so naturally it was also asked to defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman Thursday.
Two players that instantly entered Klanderman’s mind were defensive ends Jordan Allen and Ryan Davis. Both have played for Kansas State this season in limited roles. However, after the bye week their roles may be increased. Both redshirt freshmen defensive ends have recorded a sack this season as well.
A look at Arizona State
Klanderman was also quick to praise Arizona State’s offense. Everyone knows about Cam Skattebo, but the Sun Devils are very sound schematically and have a good crop of wide receivers and tight ends that can make a play with the ball in their hands.

Analyst calls out Kentucky fans
Sam Leavitt can hurt defenses with his arm or his legs. Leavitt is very decisive and does not hesitate to scramble if there is nothing there in the passing game and is decisive and crisp in the passing game. As far as Skattebo goes, the Kansas State defensive coordinator called him phenomenal and one of the best running backs in the conference which is full of talented backs. The Arizona State running back is as good as anyone in the country breaking tackles as well.
Key to Saturday
With Arizona State’s ability to run the ball, a key for Kansas State will be controlling the line of scrimmage. It is a key in most games, but will be even more important on Saturday. Skattebo breaks a majority of his tackles when he is running downhill with a head full of steam meaning K-State will have to be disruptive and make plays around the line of scrimmage.
