Rapid Recap: Kansas State offense clicking
What has changed with the Kansas State offense
Kansas State’s offense is clicking at the moment. In the last two games, K-State has ran for 615 yards and has put up 79 points on the scoreboard. The Wildcats are also on pace to shatter the school record from a yards per carry standpoint this season, averaging 5.62 yards per carry through seven games.
Offensive lineman Cooper Beebe believes the offense and offensive line are all clicking at the right time. Kansas State talks about player ownership a lot and everyone is clicking and on the same page at the same time. All the players are playing for each other which may not have always been the case to begin the season.
Praise for Carver Willis
The most commonly praised player whether it be from the players themselves or fellow teammates was Carver Willis. Beebe, Hayden Gillum and Will Howard were quick to point out his improvement and how big it has been for K-State. Willis’ improvement has allowed the entire offensive line to play their natural positions. It has been part of the reason the offensive line has been turning the corner in Big 12 play.
The game is starting to slow down for the junior. Remember, he had only played in 11 games before the season began. Getting all the reps this season and before the season when Christian Duffie was out has helped him gain confidence.

A look at Houston’s defense
It is the first time Houston and the Wildcats will play each other in series history. That lack of familiarity is something Kansas State and all of the Big 12 schools have had to get used to with conference realignment.
Defensively, the Cougars like to mix things up. Before the game against Texas last week, Houston came out with a new look on defense the Longhorns probably were not prepared for. Last week, K-State knew what they were getting with TCU. This week they will need to be prepared for whatever Houston deploys. The Cougars also disguise things well. Both Will Howard and Avery Johnson will need to be prepared for the disguises.
