Rapid recap: Notes on Kansas State offensive line
Kansas State offensive line notes
The Kansas State offensive line has been a major topic throughout the offseason.
After losing four starters, it makes some sense. The starting offensive line versus UT-Martin will likely be Easton Kilty, Hadley Panzer, Sam Hecht, Taylor Poitier and Carver Willis from left to right. However, Andrew Leingang and John Pastore have been pushing the top group.
Leingang has been pushing everyone in the top group with his versatility. The North Dakota native can play all five positions along the offensive line and has really came on in the last few weeks of camp. Pastore can play both left and right tackle.
K-State is hoping to use the versatility of the two back-up offensive linemen at their own discretion and not out of necessity. The depth overall of the offensive line has improved over the last few weeks but still probably not where it was the last few seasons.
Development in a tight end
Sophomore Brayden Loftin has been a major name the last few weeks of training camp. Kansas State offensive coordinator Conor Riley also praised him for his efforts. Where he has grown the most the last few weeks is the mental part of the game.
The K-State tight end is playing with lots of confidence and playing faster. Riley believes the position is the second toughest to play mentally in their offense. Because of that, it has taken Loftin a few seasons to get adjusted.

Examining UT-Martin
Riley also provided a look at what UT-Martin will provide defensively on Saturday evening.
The Skyhawks are very experienced up front, despite losing a few contributors from last season. The depth of their defense was also a major topic. Riley even pointed out one player returning for UT-Martin had lots of experience last year but was not the assumed starter.
They have more depth than the average FCS club. Like head coach Chris Klieman said at his coaching show on Wednesday evening, they will probably be the best FCS team Kansas State has played in a few years.
New role for Beebe
K-State redshirt freshman offensive lineman Camden Beebe announced his medical retirement recently via social media. Riley said his heart pours out for the youngest Beebe. The decision was a tough one for the redshirt freshman and he tried everything he could possibly do to play.
Beebe had surgery and tried to come back, but when he came back to practice he still had pain.
The new role for Beebe will to be as a student assistant coach. He will actually be sitting next to the Kansas State offensive coordinator in the press box. He has adjusted well to his new role and Riley knows he will do a great job.
