Rapid Recap: Praise for Kansas State true freshmen
Kansas State injury updates
Kansas State suffered a lot of injuries Saturday at Colorado. Specifically, the secondary for K-State turned into a bit of a MASH unit. Jacob Parrish was injured and never returned to the game, Marques Sigle did not return to the game. Avery Johnson and Keenan Garber did return, though. Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman did not have much of an update on injuries Monday afternoon. However, nobody has been ruled out for the West Virginia game at this time. Most players injured will likely not practice Monday afternoon, but Klieman anticipates most players will have a chance to play in Morgantown.
True freshmen praise
Two different true freshmen received high praise from the Kansas State head coach. Klieman was pleased and surprised with how Zashon Rich has progressed throughout the season. Rich’s confidence has grown with his play on special teams and blocking as a gunner on punt return. Having the success he has on special teams has helped him grow more and more on defense. K-State is really excited for the Minnesota native because he is a long-corner who is physical and can really run.
DeVon Rice also played on special teams and provided a spark with a 36-yard return. The Las Vegas native has tremendous speed and used it to get on the field in returns. Rice was also chosen as the second returner knowing Colorado likely would not kick to Dylan Edwards. Keagan Johnson was banged up and Kansas State did not want to put him back there and Jayce Brown was going to play a big role on offense. Rice is a redshirt candidate who has only played in one game, so K-State will likely pick and choose spots to play him going forward.

What Roberson provides
When Johnson went down, Ta’Quan Roberson was in off the bench as the backup quarterback. He helped lead a touchdown drive including making a big throw to Brown on a third down. Roberson was one of the Kansas State players of the game afterward for how he played.
The graduate transfer was able to handle the noise well and run the Wildcat offense. When Roberson was in the game, K-State just made one mistake and he had no problems with the cadence. Jacob Knuth was banged up in practice early last week which let Roberson get more and more reps and continue to gain confidence.
