Health of Kansas State QB1
Will Howard was clearly injured during the contest versus Missouri in Columbia. The Kansas State senior quarterback has a leg injury that limited his mobility. With him far from 100 percent, K-State ran some plays with true freshman quarterback Avery Johnson in the game.
The quarterback run game was important for the Kansas State offense against the Tigers’ defense. The quarterback run game gives them an extra blocker to help out against the blitz. They were out-numbered at the line of scrimmage, and it was an equalizer.
Klieman’s answer just that Howard wasn’t able to run but did not elaborate further. Howard said it is part of football and that he will be good to go.
Couldn’t settle in
The K-State offense could not settle in against the Missouri defense. After scoring on the first drive of the game, Kansas State did not score again until there was about 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter. Missouri was showing different pictures and confusing them a bit.
Remember, the Tigers were one of the best defenses in the SEC a year ago and had the second-most returning production of anyone on that side of the ball.
Pressure was a constant theme from K-State head coach Chris Klieman when talking about the opposing defense. Missouri was not afraid to blitz and blitz and often caused disruption. The Wildcats had answers, but not enough.

Lack of execution
Execution was lacking from the Wildcats in the first road contest of the year. On the first defensive drive of the game, there was miscommunication between Marques Sigle and Jacob Parrish that led to an explosive Luther Burden touchdown.
Kansas State suffered from drops at crucial times as well. Ben Sinnott had two drops that came on crucial third downs. Treshaun Ward also had a drop that would have extended a drive. Klieman harped a bit on those.
K-State also had a crucial delay of game called on a late drive.
The Wildcats had a third and goal from the Missouri three-yard line and could not get a snap off in time. Both Klieman and offensive coordinator Collin Klein thought the snap was going to get off in time. Howard also thought they were going to get a play off and took the blame for the penalty.
It also went a bit unnoticed, but there was a flag on the game-winning field goal by Harrison Mevis. The flag was picked up after the field goal was good, but Kansas State had two players wearing No. 8 on the kick attempt.
