A Tuesday press conference even during the bye week for Kansas State even shared some pertinent news about the Wildcats. As always, we met with head coach Chris Klieman and he provided details about the injuries on the team.

Both K-State receiver RJ Garcia and Treshaun Ward are expected to be available when the Wildcats travel to Stillwater two weekends from now to face Oklahoma State. Remember, it will be played on a Friday evening.

They might not have had the luxury of playing had Kansas State had to play in a few days, though, so the bye week may be arriving at a good time for the offensive skill position players. Neither Garcia or Ward practiced on Monday.

According to the K-State head coach, Garcia’s setback was not of the in-game variety. He was dealing with something that occurred during the week of practice. They warmed him up, but the Tampa native discovered he couldn’t give it a go after the first few snaps and was pulled and didn’t return.

Ward’s ailment was from a play during the Missouri game. He was immediately deemed as doubtful for the UCF contest and was not in uniform on Saturday evening. Having essentially three weeks off is expected to be enough time for him to be a participant against the Cowboys.

That will give Kansas State quarterback Will Howard two more weapons that he didn’t have versus the Knights when he still threw for 255 yards on 42 attempts. However, Garcia has been quiet since making a splash versus SEMO and DJ Giddens did record 293 yards from scrimmage in the absence of Ward.

Kickoff versus Oklahoma State will be at 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday, October 6 and televised by ESPN. K-State is 3-1 on the season while the Cowboys are 2-2 after consecutive losses to South Alabama and Iowa State.
