Ryan Howard still locked in with Kansas State
Kansas State quarterback Will Howard entering the transfer portal has also had an impact on the recruiting trail as well. Howard’s younger brother, Ryan Howard, is a current K-State commit in the 2024 class. The younger Howard committed to the Wildcats all the way back in January.
How does his older brother’s transfer impact his recruitment?
“It doesn’t change anything for me,” the offensive lineman shared.
The plan is still for the Pennsylvania native to enroll at Kansas State in January and be in Manhattan for spring football.
“I look forward to being teammates with all the other commits [once I get on campus],” he pointed out.
Howard has a strong relationship with all of the K-State commits in the 2024 class. Being a smaller group of high school commits has made it easier for all of them to get close. It is also a big class in terms of offensive line. Howard is one of four scholarship offensive linemen in the class along with Kyle Rakers, Kaedin Massey, and Gus Hawkins. Kansas State has also landed a preferred walk-on offensive lineman Navarro Schunke.
“We are very tight, and since we are a smaller class it allows us to be way closer than normal,” he noted. “I’m close with all the offensive line and Blake [Barnett].”

The senior offensive lineman is working on improving in a few different areas before arriving in Manhattan.
“I’m focusing on getting my health, stamina, and strength back to 100 percent,” he said.
K-State offensive line coach Conor Riley has had a major impact on Howard’s recruitment. The two have a strong relationship and Riley has taught him a few things to prepare for his time with the Wildcats.
“Riley is giving me a lot of football knowledge,” he opined. “He has taught me a lot of the different footwork for the different blocking schemes.”
