Kansas State will be hosting many football visitors during the Spring. It is a major time in recruiting and prospects see schools actually practice. An under-the-radar prospect for K-State is Wylie, Texas running back Brendon Haygood.

The Lone Star State native will be visiting Kansas State April 12. K-State extended an offer to the junior running back March 7.

“I’m looking forward to meet the coaches, gain a great relationship with the staff and see if the school is for me,” Haygood said.

He and Kansas State running backs coach Brian Anderson are developing a strong relationship.

“So far the relationship is pretty good,” Haygood shared. “We talked like a few weeks ago, but when I plan on going down there it will build. Who he has coached has stood out and he immediately said I was a good player.”

It is still very early in the junior’s recruiting process, but K-State does intrigue him.

“It will be my first time really going out of the state for a college visit so I’m really doing it to enjoy the experience,” Haygood noted.

Haygood is impressed by the offense the Wildcats run and wants to know more about how he would be used by Kansas State offensive coordinator Conor Riley.

“It’s pretty similar to what we do at my high school,” he pointed out. “So that would make things easier coming into the season as a Wildcat.”

The only other visit Haygood has planned for the Spring so far is to Oklahoma. He will visit the Sooners in April as well, though they have not offered yet.

“I’m looking to gain more connection to the staff,” he mentioned. “I want to learn about how I could be used in the offense and what can make me a better player.”

Kansas State and Oklahoma are the main contenders.

“Really just the people to come out of those schools has made them stand out and the opportunity,” Haygood revealed.

The junior running back is planning on committing in August, but he may wait until after his senior season.
