Three-star RB John Price commits to Kansas State
Kansas State has landed commitment No. 5 of the 2024 cycle with the addition of Blue Valley running back John Price. Initially, he attended high school at Lincoln Prep on the Missouri side, but he had a terrific season a year ago before being injured.
His decision to pick K-State follows his visit to Manhattan on April 6 where the two sides connected on a deeper level and realized that they wanted to pair and work together. While not a ton was known about his recruitment, he has visited Kansas State a number of times.
K-State running backs coach Brian Anderson deserves a lot of credit for landing the 5-foot-11, 185 pounds back from the Kansas City. Kansas State was in on Price early, being his second offer and that paid off and ultimately led them to securing his services.
It is another win over multiple Power Five schools for K-State as well, which has been a trend for the Big 12 program over the course of the last 18 months. The three-star running back held offers from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota and Oklahoma State. Iowa State and Missouri nearly pulled the trigger and visited him at his high school on Monday.
Reading in between the lines of his decision process, it seems like it was a head to head win for the Wildcats over both the Hawkeyes and Cowboys. In fact, Kirk Ferentz, Kelton Copeland and Iowa really, really chased him.
Blue Valley High School has been good to Kansas State the last few cycles. And it makes sense since the Tigers’ head coach is very good friends with K-State head coach Chris Klieman because of linking up through recruiting so many times over the years.

Price makes it three years in a row that Kansas State has received a commitment from the Kansas City high school. Sterling Lockett made his pledge to K-State in 2022 and the Wildcats won out for Andre Davis a year ago.
Last fall for the Tigers, Price ran for 1,004 yards on 142 carries and tallied 12 touchdowns. He also added 13 catches for 132 yards and a score.
Price is the fourth pledge on the offensive side of the ball for Kansas State in the 2024 class. He joins fellow Kansas native Gus Hawkins, Colorado quarterback Blake Barnett and Pennsylvania-based offensive lineman Ryan Howard.
According to the On3 Consensus, Price is a three-star prospect and ranked No. 4 in the Sunflower State in the 2024 cycle. His addition pushes the K-State recruiting class up to No. 36 in the country, one spot higher than the 2023 class finished a year ago.
