WINNERS:

1) JEROME TANG: In his first season at Kansas State, head coach Jerome Tang has the Wildcats 10-1 with two solid victories over LSU and Nebraska. He has embraced the K-State community, they have embraced him and it couldn’t be a better match at the moment. The win over the Huskers was particularly impressive because Nebraska is very similar to the Butler team that had their way with Kansas State. Not only did the Wildcats just play better and with more energy, it was a great coaching move to learn from the mistakes of the first road trip and make adjustments to their travel.

2) SUGAR BOWL: The directors of the event have to be thrilled that there will be no opt-outs from Alabama and that Bryce Young and Will Anderson will be on the field when the Crimson Tide meet K-State.

3.) OSU: Not only did Oregon State win the Las Vegas Bowl to capture their 10th win of the season, something done only three times in the school’s history, Oklahoma State has surprised many and cleaned up in the transfer portal. The Cowboys may be the best in that department at the moment. They just need a quarterback.

4) RECRUITING: It is a great time for recruiting fans. Specifically, Kansas State is on the brink of signing one of their best classes, definitely the best under Chris Klieman and have a few targets still in their crosshairs.

5) CATS: No, not K-State. Arizona. Not just because they knocked off Tennessee on Saturday night, either. Their punishment was handed down and the basketball team won’t receive a postseason ban. Additionally, there’s zero punishment for former head coach Sean Miller (now at Xavier).

LOSERS

1) BEARD: This one is self-explanatory. He has an uphill battle in front of himself to even coach again this season for Texas. Due to his personal situation that arose last weekend, the Longhorns have suspended Chris Beard without pay until further notice.

2) BUCKEYES: Ryan Day may be in the middle of some strong fortune at quarterback when considering both Justin Fields and CJ Stroud. But the recent recruiting efforts have been more challenging for him than expected. Quinn Ewers transferred away, 2023 signal-caller Brock Glenn de-committed a couple months ago and the same has happened with their 2024 quarterback commit. The No. 1 player in the 2024 cycle, Dylan Raiola, has also bolted the Ohio State class. They did land one-time Kansas State target Lincoln Kienholz in the 2023 class, who was once committed to Washington.

3) TECH: Fardaws Aimaq was in the transfer portal, and then he wasn’t. There’s a ton of rumors about head coach Mark Adams that aren’t very flattering. NIL seems to be at the center of a lot of drama in the Texas Tech locker room. Aimaq may be returning, but that’s not a healthy team.

4) PAC-12: They may have landed their first bowl win in almost three years, but their charade with the California Board of Regents ended with a dud. UCLA will still go to the Big Ten.

5) GATORS: Florida was the SEC club that was thumped by Oregon State, 30-3. Woof.

As a KSO subscriber, Kansas State fans can find out more about the rest of the recruiting targets still being chased, which underclassmen players could return for the Wildcats and how many of the seniors will be back on the roster for an extra season in Manhattan.
