We wrap up the week was in the world of Kansas State sports and college athletics.

WINNERS

1) CATS: Kansas State transfer Tylor Perry, along with the true freshmen, made it to Manhattan this week to begin their careers at K-State. For Perry, it will be just one season, but he will play a considerable role for the Wildcats.

2) KANSAS STATE: Big 12 Championship rings were delivered to Kansas State last week as well, and they were seen on social media sporting them.

3.) MANHATTAN: While the transfer portal hasn’t been too rewarding just yet, it’s always great to have Nae’Qwan Tomlin back on campus. He was seen in the K-State videos that welcomed all of the newcomers to campus.

4.) TRE RICHARDSON: TCU infielder Tre Richardson logged three home runs and 11 RBI’s versus Arkansas in the regional thanks to two grand slams in consecutive innings.

5) BRAET’S CREW: Every single football newcomer has arrived at Kansas State. There were no stragglers or unpleasant surprises.

LOSERS

1) SEC: Despite further and further discussion at league meetings and continued bickering, they are sticking with the eight-game conference schedule. Wow.

2) ILLINOIS: Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini had the transfer recruiting miss of the year thus far when they couldn’t seal the deal for Rayj Dennis. He was considered a foregone conclusion for the Fighting Illini and is in their backyard, but the MAC Player of the Year (who Kansas State also tried to pursue) committed to Baylor.

3.) PAC-12: They can’t catch a break. The worst stuff keeps happening at the worst time. When the league is in search of inflated compensation, it was reported that the Holiday Bowl is suing UCLA and the conference because of how they backed out of the contest with NC State at the last minute, citing reasons connected to Covid-19.

4.) ‘POKES: Though K-State can’t say much because they didn’t make a regional, much less host one, Oklahoma State was smoked and never even won a game as the host over the weekend. After falling just 6-4 to Oral Roberts in the opener, the Cowboys were drilled 18-4 by Dallas Baptist.

5.) YORMARK: The Big 12 commissioner better tread carefully on the brand refresh of the league that he is planning to launch. Anything along the lines of a conference name change would be a terrible idea.
