Winners and Losers: Kansas State guard Markquis Nowell takes over G-League Elite Camp
We wrap up the week was in the world of Kansas State sports and college athletics.
WINNERS
1) NOWELL: Kansas State point guard Markquis Nowell accepted an invitation to the G League Elite Camp not long ago, and he took it over on Saturday and was the star of the show. Another good day could earn the K-State senior an invite to the actual NBA combine.
2) KANSAS: The rival of Kansas State deserves some credit for landing Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson.
3.) PITINO: As we wait for additional K-State news, new St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino has been cleaning up in the transfer portal. His two latest additions are UMass guard RJ Luis and Penn standout Jordan Dingle.
4.) OMAR: Just before the window closed, Kansas State cornerback Omar Daniels was one of three Wildcats that entered the transfer portal. He is a winner because he was able to remain at the Power Five level by committing to Georgia Tech.
5) KEYONTAE: One K-State player has received an invitation to the NBA combine thus far, and it is Keyontae Johnson. We also await his decision on whether he will continue to pursue a professional future or return to Manhattan. He has until May 31.

LOSERS
1) HUGGINS: After using a homophobic slur on a Cincinnati radio station, former Kansas State head coach and current West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins issued an apology, will be beholden to a series of fines and mandatory donations and is suspended for three games.
2) KU: We can expect Bill Self and Kansas to always give K-State challenges on the hardwood, but it was a rough week otherwise for the Jayhawks. Kansas was not expected to lose Ernest Udeh to the transfer portal, and they were not anticipated to fall to Indiana for Mackenzie Mgbako. Both happened.
3.) DICKINSON: Congratulations on picking the Jayhawks and collecting a bag, but that commitment video from someone that has been in college that long was pretty weak/lame.
4.) VOLS: Although we aren’t sure how much of a factor that Kansas State can be, Tennessee losing Julian Phillips to the transfer portal after just one year is rough.
