Another offer in the class of 2023

Buzelis, a 6-foot-10 wing out of Brewster Academy (NH), is the eighth player in the class of 2023 to receive an offer from Kentucky. Buzelis joins the likes of DJ Wagner, Mackenzie Mgbako, Kwame Evans Jr., Mookie Cook, JJ Taylor, Justin Edwards and Elijah Fisher to earn a scholarship.

Reed Sheppard is Kentucky’s lone commitment in the class, announcing his pledge back on November 20.

Kentucky has hosted a slew of top junior prospects on official visits in recent months, with Buzelis joining Wagner, Evans, Mgbako, Taylor, Cook, Edwards and Fisher since October. Robert Dillingham also took an official to Lexington, but later committed to North Carolina State.

Exploding stock

A native of Hinsdale, IL, the versatile wing prospect saw his stock explode this summer after showing off elite guard skills at 6-10. UK assistant coach Chin Coleman built a strong relationship with Buzelis during his time with Mac Irvine Fire on the EYBL circuit, with John Calipari taking over his recruitment in recent months. He’s made multiple trips to see the five-star wing at Brewster Academy since ramping things up in September.

Buzelis has also taken official visits to Wake Forest and Florida State, with Duke also seen as a top contender in his recruitment.

The five-star wing is considered the next ‘unicorn’ prospect, boasting terrific court vision, playmaking and scoring abilities with the frame of a long forward. While he’s thin and will need to add weight — he’s currently just 175 pounds — he’s got the length to defend out on the perimeter and in the frontcourt. Buzelis currently projects as a future top-ten draft selection.
