2024 5-star guard Boogie Fland officially signs with Kentucky
Boogie Fland is a Kentucky Wildcat — officially. The five-star guard put pen to paper to open the early signing period on Wednesday during a ceremony at Archbishop Stepinac High School.
Fland is the first pledge to sign with Kentucky in its 2024 recruiting class, with four-star center Somto Cyril also set to join the fold this afternoon.
The University of Kentucky has already announced Fland’s addition, listing the newest Wildcat at 6-2, 170 pounds.
“#BBN, let’s welcome Boogie Fland to #LaFamilia!” the school said.
Fland is considered the No. 17 overall prospect and No. 1 point guard in the senior class according to the latest On3 Player Rankings. He committed to Kentucky back on October 20, choosing the Wildcats over Indiana and Alabama.
“If you look at Coach Cal’s resume and the pros they’re producing at my position, it’s only right that I go there,” Fland said at the time of his commitment. “He’s not promising me anything, he’s not saying I’m going to get this many shots or points, but he says I’m going to come in and work, compete and fight. I’m going to fight that battle every single day.”

In a behind-the-scenes look at Fland’s commitment, John Calipari called the five-star guard and said his ability to knock down shots from NBA range will be a game-changer for Kentucky’s spacing next season.
“I’m doing what I’m doing with this group and I’m having a vision of you doing this stuff. The way you get to spots, the way you’re getting to the rim, the way you’re making threes now,” Calipari said. “I’m telling you, with your range, I’m going to make you shoot outside the NBA three. I’ll tell you why: Boogie, it stretches out the court. They’ve got to play you.
“They’ll say, ‘That dude is letting him shoot out there?’ Yeah, you better go play him because — you don’t have to make them all, but if you go one for three or one for four, one went in and they’ll s*** themselves.”
Welcome to the family, Boogie.
