2024 five-star guard Boogie Fland planning visit to Kentucky
Kentucky has one primary guard option in the junior class and one option only — until further notice, anyway. Standing 6-3, 175 pounds, Boogie Fland is rated as the No. 6 prospect in the nation and the No. 1 true point guard overall.
The Harlem, NY prospect is a dynamic ball handler and confident shooter at all three levels, crafty in getting to his spots and converting on tough buckets. Playing with charisma and a chip on his shoulder, he thrives under the bright lights and makes those around him better. It’s why the Wildcats want him. Bad.
With his junior high school season now complete — he led Stepinac to a CHSAA AA Intersectional championship — he’s now turning his attention back to recruiting. And that could start with a trip to Lexington in the very near future.
“The recruiting process is good,” Fland told 247Sports’ Travis Branham at USA Basketball Mini Camp over the weekend. “I am enjoying it. I am about to take four more visits.”
Fland has taken one official already to North Carolina, who he says is “a winning program” with a “nice campus” and “just good vibes all around.”
Next, though, he’s deciding between Kentucky, St. John’s, UConn, Kansas, Michigan, Providence and Alabama, among others, for those final four junior visits. Of his current options on the table, he’s fairly confident a trip to Lexington is coming, well, now. Within the next week or two.
It’s to return the favor from John Calipari’s recent trip to see the five-star guard in New York back in March.

“It was good. It was nice (having Calipari visit me),” Fland told Branham. “Coach Cal wants me at the program and he can’t express it more than that. We have a very good relationship. Most definitely. I am on spring break and have two weeks off so I am trying to get there.”
And then there’s St. John’s, who recently through its hat in the ring for the dynamic guard with Rick Pitino taking over as the program’s next head coach.
“He’s a legendary coach, a great guy and he kept it real,” Fland added. “Now that Pitino is there I feel like the program will grow. Everywhere he goes the programs do well.”
Are we gearing up for yet another Calipari vs. Pitino battle? It’s trending in that direction, with others including UConn and Alabama still poking around and making it clear Fland is wanted in their respective programs, as well.
Come on down, Boogie.
