2024 football schedule for new-look SEC will be unveiled in December

We already know who Kentucky football will match up against during the 2024 regular season, but in less than two weeks, we’ll finally know when the majority of those games will be played.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Thursday afternoon that the league will unveil the 2024 SEC football schedule on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7:00 p.m. EST as part of the 2024 SEC Football Schedule Reveal on ESPN and the SEC Network. Laura Rutledge will host the two-hour special alongside college football commentators Joey Galloway, Greg McElroy, Tim Tebow, and, of course, Paul Finebaum.

The 2024 season will mark the first year of the new-look SEC, which has brought over Texas and Oklahoma from the Big 12. Kentucky will have the pleasure of facing Texas on the road in Austin during the Longhorns’ inaugural SEC season. It will mark just the second-ever meeting between these two programs on the gridiron.

The Wildcats’ 2024 SEC opponents were initially announced in June, but the finalized dates for those games will be announced next month. All four of Kentucky’s non-conference games for next season have already been scheduled. Of note, UK was expected to face Akron on the road, but that game was recently swapped out for a home game at Kroger Field against Southern Miss.

Below is Kentucky’s 2024 slate of opponents as we know it.

Starting with the 2024 season, the SEC will eliminate divisional standings for the new-look 16-team league. Instead of the top teams from the East and West divisions meeting in the SEC Championship Game, the title game will now feature the top two teams in the conference standings at the end of the regular season. The 2024 SEC Championship Game is set for Dec. 7, 2024.
