2025 four-star guard Adelaide Jernigan commits to NC State WBB
Kenny Brooks was close to securing his first commitment of the 2025 class, but no cigar.
On Sunday, 2025 four-star guard Adelaide Jernigan announced her commitment to the home-state team in her recruitment, NC State, picking the ‘Pack over the Michigan Wolverines and the ‘Cats.
Jernigan, the No. 64 overall prospect in ESPN/HoopGurlz’s 2025 Recruiting Rankings, took an official visit to Kentucky from September 6-8. Additionally, Brooks and Associate Head Coach Lindsey Hicks did an in-home visit with Jernigan just a bit over a week later as well. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough to reel her in.
Back in August, Jernigan talked with On3’s Talia Goodman about each of her three finalists, including Kentucky.
“So, I really liked Virginia Tech,” Jernigan told Goodman. “They recruited me freshman year as well. I just have always really liked Kenny [Brooks]. They put your relationship first. Player development is really big for him, and I like that a lot. They care a ton with recruiting – I played tennis and they came to a tennis match once. I really liked the coaching staff for Virginia Tech, and I’m friends with Georgia Amoore – we used to call and text when she was at Virginia Tech, and we still text here and there now that she’s at Kentucky, but I really like her. And then obviously, I loved Liz Kitley because she’s 20 minutes from my house.”
Still, Brooks and company are searching for that first 2025 commitment to get the ball rolling.
