'24 CB Tyshawn Sanders considering Kentucky official visit following offer
Tyshawn Sanders has been committed to Appalachian State since June, but after shining on the field over halfway through his senior high school season, new options have begun to pop up on his radar.
One of those schools is Kentucky, which extended Sanders an offer earlier this week. Wildcats’ defensive backs coach Chris Collins was the one who made the move on the 5-foot-11 cornerback out of Marion (SC) High, the same school that Kentucky commit Quaysheed Scott plays for. The two are actually cousins and were in Lexington together over the weekend to watch Kentucky host Missouri at Kroger Field.
A few days later, Sanders, who is considered a three-star class of 2024 prospect by On3, announced his offer from the ‘Cats.
“I was expecting it because me and Coach Collins has been talking for like a week or so,” Sanders told KSR on Friday. “So I seen it coming and I was really excited when I got the offer.”
Like Scott, Sanders is considering taking an official visit to Kentucky for this December. The two would take that trip together if it were to happen. Sanders adds that Virginia is also taking a closer look at him. The Cavaliers want to get him on campus next month with the possibility of hosting him for an official visit in December, as well.

Sanders has only been in contact with the Kentucky staff for about a week, but things have moved quickly. After getting a look at his midseason tape at Marion, Collins reached out directly and the two sides went from there. Sanders, who plays all over the field on both sides for Marion, says that Collins has pitched him as a nickelback for the Wildcats.
For the time being, he remains committed to Appalachian State. The Mountaineers have stayed in constant contact and tell him he’s a “top priority” for their program. He’ll take an official visit there in December. That being said, he also added that he’s “still open to other schools”.
On the field, it’s no shock to see Sanders drawing some Power 5 interest. Through nine games played for 8-1 Marion, he’s been targeted a mere 11 times on defense, giving up just two receptions. He’s registered 33 total tackles (14 solo), including one tackle for loss, to go along with one interception and four pass deflections. Sanders has also blocked two punts, one he returned for a touchdown.
Kentucky currently has 21 commits locked in for this cycle, good enough for 24th in the country according to On3.
