With the summer quickly approaching, rising high school seniors are beginning to schedule their official visits. In past years, recruits were limited to five official visits per school year, but that rule has recently changed. Now, a recruit can take as many official visits as they desire, but they can only visit the same school once.

Regardless, official visits are typically a solid indicator of figuring out which prospects a program is seriously interested in, and vice versa.

One recruit the Big Blue Nation can expect to see in Lexington this summer is Jordan Floyd, a three-star offensive tackle out of Atlanta, GA. The 6-foot-7, 260-pounder, who possesses a 7-foot wingspan, told KSR on Wednesday that he intends to take an official visit to the University of Kentucky, likely in June. Recruited by defensive backs coach Chris Collins, Floyd first visited Kentucky back in September to watch the Wildcats take on Miami (OH). He earned an offer from UK while on that visit.

“We have a great relationship, me and Kentucky,” Floyd told KSR. “I’m talking to Coach Collins. He was the one who recruited me, I’m talking with him almost every other day. We have a great relationship. We’ve been talking about this official visit for some time now… I plan on taking one soon but I don’t know the exact date. Sometime during June.”

Floyd is considered the No. 638 overall recruit in the class of 2024, per the On3 Consensus. Along with Kentucky, he holds additional offers from the likes of Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisville, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Maryland, and Mississippi State. He’s coming off recent visits to Florida, Central Florida, and Florida State. The home state Georgia Bulldogs, where he visited in late March, are also keeping tabs on the Parkview High School product.

Since Kentucky offered, Floyd and Collins have remained in constant contact. Floyd’s first visit to Lexington was more of a brief introduction to the program, which is why he’s looking to finalize an official visit in the near future. He says he wants to tour UK’s campus and the football team’s facilities while learning more about the academic opportunities the school has to offer.

On the field, Floyd brings tremendous length. Again, he boasts a 7-foot wingspan and has plenty of room to add more weight without losing his step. He lined up at left tackle during his junior season at Parkview.

“Most linemen are known for being on the bigger side, a little overweight. I’m big, but I’m big enough to where I can still move and be effective on the line,” Floyd said. “I still have more weight I can build on. I don’t have to lose any weight.”

As for a decision timeline, Floyd says he’s shooting for a commitment during his senior year this fall, likely between the middle and the end of his final season of high school football. He says that Kentucky is the only school he’s currently looking at for an official visit, but did add that Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and a couple of others are looking to get him on campus.
